FAQ: Automatic Asset Numbering - Oracle EBS R12

http://fixedasstets.blogspot.com/2016/02/q.html

Q.
I add two Assets with automatic Asset Number Generation 12095 and 12096. The Issue is when I manually enter any asset number like 0098. It skips one number from automatic Asset Number Generation. The next Automatic Asset Number generated is 12098. Why not 12097 is generated

R.
The application is functioning as designed. Every time you add an asset, whether you use automatic asset numbering or manual numbering, the FA_ADDITIONS_S sequence will increment. The sequence is used for both asset_number and asset_id. There is no workaround.

Q.
We have two Asset Books. Can we segregate Asset numbering on Book Level. Is there any possibility.

R.
Only by using manual asset numbers, for example:

BOOK A - Asset Number A123456
BOOK B - Asset Number B123456
etc

Q.
Is it possible that we can allow one book to have automatic Numbering without skipping any number and the other book can have manual numbering through any personalization / customization

R.
As previously explained, the FA_ADDITIONS_S sequence is used for both ASSET_NUMBER and ASSET_ID. It will increment for every asset you enter in the system - period. There is no workaround.
